The State of Alabama will be participating in the 15th annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Weekend beginning Friday, July 17 through Sunday, July 19. This special shopping period will start at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 17, and end at midnight on Sunday, July 19.
The Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Weekend allows shoppers to purchase certain school supplies, computers, clothing, and books without paying the state sales tax.
Tax-free purchases will include clothing priced at $100 or less, school supplies valued at $50 or less, books that cost $30 or less, and computers and computer equipment with a selling price of $750 or less. Find the tax free holiday quick reference sheet for a listing of approved items.
