Alabama's 14th annual sales tax holiday for back-to-school items will be Friday, July 19, 2019, through Sunday, July 21, 2019.
This year the State of Alabama will be participating in the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Weekend giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, clothing, and books without paying the state sales tax.If your state does not sponsor a tax-free weekend, consider driving to a nearby state that does. Alternatively, contact your local state representative to request that he or she initiates sales tax holiday legislation for your area.
Tax-free purchases will include clothing priced at $100 or less, school supplies valued at $50 or less, books that cost $30 or less and computers and computer equipment with a selling price of $750 or less. Find the tax free holiday quick reference sheet for a listing of approved items.
